Skovby's dining chair range is particularly broad, from softer Scandinavian timber designs through to fully upholstered chairs with fixed or swivel bases. That makes the range useful whether you are choosing chairs with a new Skovby table or replacing chairs around a table you already own.
Chair width, seat height and the position of the table legs all affect how comfortably a set works. Armchairs need enough clearance beneath the table, while wider or swivel designs may reduce the number of chairs you can comfortably fit around it.
If you are buying a complete dining set, we would normally settle the table size and position first and then compare the chairs around it. A table may theoretically seat a certain number of people, but the chair design will influence how comfortable that number feels in practice.
There is no single chair shape that defines Skovby. The range includes compact timber chairs, upholstered designs, models with arms, flexing backs and different fixed or swivel bases. These differences affect support, movement and how easily you can get in and out from the table.
A compact chair can help maximise seating, while arms or a more upholstered design may suit someone who spends longer sitting at the table. Once the chair itself is comfortable and the dimensions work, fabric, leather and timber choices can be used to coordinate or contrast with the room.
Vale Furnishers has worked with Skovby for close to 30 years and shows several different chair families at Ash Vale. Sitting on the alternatives is the best way to understand the differences in support, movement and proportions. You can also compare our wider dining chair collection.
