Guildford Interior Designers: Our Top 5
If you live in Guildford and have been contemplating using the services of an interior designer for some time now but haven’t quite gone ahead and taken the plunge yet, then it may because you’re not sure of the choices out there. This is why, in this post, we’ve outlined some of the most respected Guildford interior designers and what differentiates them. Maybe one of them could be right up your street, lane or driveway…
Recently voted ‘one to watch’ by interiors magazine Roco, Susan Venn specialises in luxury interior design. Her trademark is to balance colour and layers of texture. Trained at the KLC School of Design in Chelsea and a winner of the Royal Institute of British Architecture (RIBA) award for design and spacial planning, Susan is a former advertising executive. Past projects include a luxury farmhouse and new-build modernist house in London.
Brought up in Russia, Natalia was immersed in the world of art and architectural grandeur from a young age. Like Susan Venn, Natalia too studied at the KLC School of Design in Chelsea. She combines her training with inspiration from extensive world travels. Fluent in French and a lover of the music of Flaubert and Mauriac, she has classic tastes combined with contemporary elegance. “It isn’t about faddish hotel looks that are seen the world over, but about timeless style, pieces you fall in love with, matched with a strong structure and good taste,” she said.
Ra Ra Designs Ltd
Although the business was officially established only two years ago, managing director Sarah Brown has been working in architecture and design for more than a decade now. Her commissions – both in the UK and in Australia – have included rustic Cotswold cottages and luxury beach homes in Sydney. Sarah works closely with architects to ensure a ‘cohesive’ interior. She supports local communities by giving away 10 per cent of every project to charity. One of many notable Guildford interior designers to keep an eye on.
Brenda Kitchen and Nicky Hayes launched Wonersh Interiors around 12 years ago. The pair say they don’t have a particular ‘look’ and have designed interiors ticking the classic, traditional, contemporary, funky and glamorous boxes. They mainly deal with residential properties but have also undertaken an interiors project with a respected local golf club. The company’s USP is their access to a broad range of different brands.
Gregory Phillips Architects
A team of architects who have been concentrating on both house design and interiors for more than quarter of a century now. Work in Guildford includes refurbishment to a listed home in the Hoggs Back area and which later received acclaim in the Grand Design Awards. They’ve also worked on commissions in Guildford’s Chantry View Road and White Lane. Other awards picked up by the company include the International Design and Architecture Award for the Best House in Europe, the Sunday Times British Homes Award, RIBA Awards and the Homes and Garden Award for Best Bathroom Designer of the Year.
