Contemporary Dining Tables – Which One is for You?

Choosing contemporary dining tables depends on how much size you have available as much as the design of the room in which it’s going to be placed. If space isn’t a problem and you enjoy plenty of socialising then go ahead and choose a table similar to that of our Cove range.

If, on the other hand, you happen to be a tad space-compromised and prefer to eat out at restaurants when dining with friends then do consider a small round contemporary dining table (it will always seat more than a rectangular version anyhow).

Leaf and other extendable tables too are great if you’re an occasional dining host and have a small apartment. Here’s some of our tables below with scenarios in which they can best be used. See which suits you best:

Contemporary round table

Glass tables have the ability to complement a room beautifully, so long as you know how to choose the right ones. A smallish round table is great for fitting into tight corners. It will also prove space saving and stylish. The round black Quinto glass table with its four contemporary matching chairs, is a case in point.

Extendable table – Scandinavian style

The Scandinavian design themed Skovby dining table with its white top and light wood legs boasts a unique design which sees it extend to far more than double its size – thanks to three extensions and very expendable legs. In total the table can comfortably seat up to 14 diners at the same time. Not bad considering how little space it takes up in is basic form. The seats can be purchased in either leather or fabric depending on the rest of your room’s decor and the age of your diners – children being liable to spill food and which can be easily wiped off leather.  If you like this then perhaps other Skovby designs would be of interest?

Medieval/Shabby chic range

Add a bit of Medieval Tudor banqueting style to your dining room with this choice of table and chairs from our own Cove Living and Dining Range. If it feels a little too 14th century then never fear, update it instantly to a shabby chic look by purchasing it in a choice of five colours – Clunch, Down Pipe, Elephant’s Breath, Lichen and London Stone. Alternatively go for a Tudor-style black iron hanging chandelier to hang overhead and really get into the historical vibe.

Extendable table – industrial design style

The industrial design style has been in for a number of years now and looks set to stay for a long time yet. This extendable table and chairs set is perfect for the likes of a loft apartment and converted warehouse interior. It’s all down to the  chunky solid wood design of the table top and the matching six metal chairs. The table extends by means of table leaves at either end so that hosting a dinner becomes a piece of cake (seating-wise anyhow!): One of our favourite contemporary dining tables.

Vintage table

Fans of a a vintage look will love the traditional Cherry dining room table with its rich dark polished solid wood veneer and crystal cut glass table top covering. Crafted with impressive attention to detail, this is the type of table which is perfect for celebrations and family dinners throughout the year. Can’t you just hear the tinkle of the bone china cups being replaced in their saucers?

Fantastic inspiration, I would also add multi functional dining tables to the list such as a snooker dining table
