Guest Bedroom Ideas to Consider
Having a guest bedroom is a luxury not afforded to all, so if you can give your friends and family a place to stay when they come to visit, it’s great to be able to make it a home from home. It can even be done if the room is generally used for something else, such as a study or even storage. As long as there is somewhere for your guests to retire to which affords them a little privacy and a lot of comfort, they won’t mind where you put them. Let’s explore some guest bedroom ideas to enhance their overall comfort.
The Wardrobe
The first thing that many guest rooms often leave out is a wardrobe, or at least some form of hanging space. Anyone staying at your place will feel completely at home if they are able to hang their clothes up rather than living out of their overnight bag. If you need the room for storage, a piece such as the Ruskin Combi Wardrobe would be ideal, as your guest can have the hanging space and you can use the drawers for paperwork (or anything else, come to that).
The Bed & Bed Linen
After hanging up their clothes, your guest is going to want a lie down. The bed you choose is important and it depends on how much room you have. If the room is a permanent guest room you can go for something luxurious and stylish – the Ardennes adjustable divan would perfectly fit the bill. If the bed needs to be of a more temporary nature, you could consider a good quality inflatable mattress or fold away unit. Whatever you choose, ensuring you have thick pillows, a plush duvet (like the Fine Bedding Co’s goose down and feather duvet) and soft sheets is extremely important.
As well as lovely bed linen and a scrumptious duvet set, a towel is always a bonus. If your guest wants to use the bathroom, give them all the tools they need to do it without feeling embarrassed. But don’t give them just any old towel from the laundry pile – make sure it is soft and fluffy and reserved solely for guests. Something like the super chic Hygro Supima range would be ideal.
Finishing Touches
Finishing touches should always include a bedside table, and a lamp to go on top. No one wants to get up in the night and fumble their way around a room they don’t know. A bedside table or chest that includes additional storage is always a plus point. As for the lamp, make sure it matches the curtains, bed linen, and other soft furnishings including a rug (this Whisper Rug is particularly opulent and your guest’s feet will thank you for it) and scatter cushions.
As well as being a bright, comfortable, private space, your guest bedroom should have some personal touches too. After all, it is your home. Why not add some photos to the walls, or some prints that are particularly meaningful to you? They will make a great talking point over breakfast!
Finally, why not leave some flowers in your guest bedroom? Flowers are always a treat, and when they are handpicked it’s even better. Something about bright blooms in a room makes it as homely as can be; your guests simply won’t want to leave!
