Fama reclining chairs are a good example of the way the brand combines comfort with movement. Depending on the model, that might mean a simple reclining action, powered adjustment, swivel, rocking or several functions in one chair.
The important thing is to choose the chair for how it feels before concentrating on the mechanism. If the seat, back and arm support are not right when you are sitting normally, adding a recline will not make it the right chair for you.
Start by sitting in the chair as you would at home. Check that your back is properly supported, your arms sit naturally and the seat depth suits your leg length. Fama models can vary noticeably in shape and proportion, so it is worth trying more than one.
Then test the reclining action through its full range and think about the position you would actually use for reading, watching television or relaxing.
Some customers want a straightforward recliner, while others prefer the extra freedom of swivel or rocking movement. Models such as Moonrise can combine these functions to create a more enveloping and informal way of sitting.
Allow enough surrounding space for the chair to move properly rather than measuring only its stationary footprint.
Powered adjustment can make it easier to fine-tune your position, while a manual mechanism may appeal if you prefer a simpler action. Neither is automatically better; the right choice depends on how you want to use the chair.
Where a powered model can use a battery, this can also give more freedom over positioning by avoiding a cable across the floor.
Our Fama display changes regularly, but we normally have different chair actions available to compare and can access the wider catalogue. You can also compare Fama with our broader reclining chair collection.
If getting in and out of the chair is part of the decision, see the Fama riser recliners instead.
