Choosing a Peressini stool should start with the height of the surface rather than the colour or finish. Kitchen counters and higher bar tables need different seat heights, and Peressini offers options across the collection to suit different settings.
Measure from the floor to the top of your worktop, island or bar before narrowing down the stools. The aim is to leave comfortable space between the seat and the underside of the counter rather than simply choosing a stool described as 'bar height'.
We prefer customers to try a stool at approximately the height they will use at home. A higher stool feels different when you get on and off it, so trying the correct type gives you a more useful impression of the seat, back and footrest.
A stool used for a quick breakfast or coffee has a different job from one where you regularly eat, work or spend an evening talking. For longer periods, give more consideration to the shape of the back, the amount of padding and where your feet rest rather than choosing mainly by appearance.
Peressini's range varies considerably in this respect. Some stools are visually slim with relatively light padding, while others provide a more substantial upholstered seat, so it is worth comparing different styles rather than assuming one represents the whole collection.
Think about the width of the island as well as its height. The stools need enough room for people to sit alongside one another and to get on and off without constantly moving neighbouring seats. Also consider how far the stool projects into the room and whether it can sit neatly beneath the counter when it isn't being used.
Peressini's choice of upholstery, colours and bases makes it possible to relate the stools to dining chairs or other finishes in an open-plan room. They do not have to match exactly; sometimes repeating a colour or material is enough to connect the two areas.
If you are also choosing dining seating, we can compare our Peressini dining chairs alongside the stools and look at how closely you want the two areas to relate.
The Peressini stools shown on our website are intended to represent what you can currently try in our Ash Vale showroom. Between those displays we can demonstrate different seat styles, bases and finishes, with samples available for many alternatives.
Bring your counter measurement with you if possible. We can establish the appropriate height first, compare the stools that suit it and then work through the wider Peressini collection and finish choices once you know what feels right.
