Tempur Ergo Smart – intelligent sleep technology

The Ergo Smart is the flagship technology-led adjustable bed within our Tempur display – and it's not available from every Tempur retailer.

The Ergo Smart can only be purchased from selected retailers that physically display the bed, and Vale Furnishers is one of them.

That means you can visit our Ash Vale showroom, experience the Ergo Smart for yourself, see the technology demonstrated and compare it directly with Tempur's other adjustable beds before deciding whether its additional features are right for you.

Interestingly, many customers who end up considering an Ergo Smart didn't originally come into the showroom looking for an adjustable bed.

Quite often, the conversation starts with sleep.

And sometimes with snoring.

A bed that can respond when you snore

The Ergo Smart can detect vibrations associated with snoring and automatically respond by gently raising the head end of the bed.

Changing your sleeping position can help reduce snoring without you having to wake up and manually adjust the bed.

For couples where one person's snoring regularly disturbs the other, it's a feature that immediately gets people's attention.

But that's only the beginning.

Used with Tempur's sleep technology and app, the Ergo Smart can provide information about your night's sleep and help you understand your sleeping patterns.

Rather than simply telling you how long you were in bed, the system can provide insights into areas such as sleep stages, heart rate and breathing rate.

For customers who already use a smartwatch or fitness tracker, it's an interesting extension of technology they may already use during the day.

It's one of those products that's much easier to understand once you've actually experienced it.

Massage, lumbar support and personalised positions

The Ergo Smart isn't just about monitoring your sleep.

It has also been designed to create an exceptionally comfortable place to relax.

A built-in massage function provides different levels of gentle vibration through the bed, while independent lumbar adjustment allows you to increase or decrease the support around your lower back.

You can independently adjust the head and foot sections and save favourite positions into memory, making it easy to return to the settings you use most often.

There's even integrated under-bed lighting.

If you need to get up during the night, you can illuminate the floor beneath the bed without switching on the main bedroom lights and disturbing your partner.

Zero Gravity

One of the features you'll find across selected Tempur adjustable beds is the Zero Gravity position.

At the touch of a button, the bed raises your head and legs into a carefully balanced position designed to create a feeling of weightlessness and relaxation.

It's a lovely position for unwinding before sleep, reading or simply relaxing at the end of the day.

It can also feel particularly welcome after exercise or a long day on your feet.

Tempur Arc Adjustable – luxury without all the smart technology

Not everybody wants or needs all of the technology offered by the Ergo Smart.

That's where the Tempur Arc Adjustable comes in.

It gives you the core benefits of a premium adjustable Tempur bed while keeping the controls much simpler.

You can independently adjust your head and feet, use the Zero Gravity preset, save a favourite position and benefit from useful features such as under-bed lighting.

What you don't get are the Ergo Smart's intelligent sleep tracking, automatic snore response and additional smart functions.

For many customers, that's exactly the balance they're looking for.

Tempur's adjustable disc support system

The Arc Adjustable also introduces another important piece of Tempur technology – its adjustable disc support system.

A conventional sprung slat flexes across much of the width of the bed.

Tempur's system uses individual flexible support discs mounted above the supporting slats, creating many smaller areas that can respond to your body's shape and movement.

Rather than the entire slat reacting as one, the individual discs can adapt more locally beneath areas such as your shoulders and hips.

The open construction also encourages airflow beneath the mattress.

It's particularly interesting for customers moving from a traditional pocket sprung mattress because the additional movement beneath the Tempur mattress creates a more responsive sleeping surface.

Don't assume the mattress is responsible for everything you feel.

The base underneath matters too.

Try the same Tempur mattress on different support systems in our showroom and you'll understand very quickly why we encourage customers to choose the mattress and base together.

Tempur Suffolk Adjustable – the traditional divan option

The Suffolk takes Tempur's adjustable disc technology and packages it in a much more traditional-looking upholstered divan.

That makes it an excellent choice for customers who want the functionality of an electric bed but prefer the appearance of a conventional divan.

The head and foot sections can be adjusted independently, while the disc support system provides the responsive foundation underneath your Tempur mattress.

Another major advantage of the Suffolk is storage.

Continental drawer options are available, allowing you to retain useful under-bed storage while still enjoying the benefits of an adjustable base.

You can then complete the bed with a choice of coordinating Tempur headboards and upholstery fabrics.

Which Tempur adjustable bed should I choose?

The easiest way to think about the three beds we display is to consider what you want from your bedroom.

If you're looking for Tempur's most advanced sleep technology, intelligent sleep tracking, automatic snore response, massage and additional comfort features, start with the Ergo Smart.

If you want a beautifully designed adjustable bed with Tempur's disc support system, Zero Gravity and straightforward electric adjustment, consider the Arc Adjustable.

If you prefer the appearance and practicality of a traditional upholstered divan – particularly if additional storage is important – the Suffolk Adjustable may be the better choice.

There isn't a right answer.
