Choosing a Westex loop pile carpet is largely about finding the texture and appearance you like, but there are a few practical considerations worth settling first. A good loop carpet can be hardwearing and suitable for busy areas; the important thing is to compare the different constructions rather than thinking of loop pile as one particular look or feel.
One of the first questions we ask when discussing a loop carpet is whether you have cats. Claws can catch in the loops and pull the yarn, potentially creating a run or ladder in the carpet. If that is a concern in your home, compare a loop with a twist pile carpet before deciding.
Westex produces loops with noticeably different surface textures and constructions. Some give a finer, more understated effect while others make the loop itself a stronger part of the room's appearance. That difference is much easier to appreciate on a larger sample and underfoot than from a small photograph.
Many of the Westex loop carpets we discuss with customers are 100% wool. Good wool has useful natural resilience as well as its characteristic feel, making loop carpets an option worth considering for more than just quieter rooms. Westex's Moth Guard treatment is also particularly relevant here because it provides protection against wool-eating insects.
We have a much wider selection of Westex loop samples at our Ash Vale showroom than is represented by the individual products online. Put different loops alongside each other, stand on them without shoes and compare them with a twist pile as well. Once you know which construction you prefer, you can take likely colours home and see how they respond to the light and furnishings in your own room.
