Harrison Spinks Divan Storage & Ottoman Beds

Choosing storage for your Harrison Spinks bed

A Harrison Spinks divan can make useful storage out of the space underneath your bed, with a choice of drawer and ottoman bases.

The right option depends on what you want to store, how often you need to access it and the space available around your bed.

Harrison Spinks drawer options explained

Harrison Spinks offers two standard drawers, four standard drawers, or a 2+2 Continental configuration.

With two standard drawers, you gain useful storage while keeping the other side of the bed free from drawers.

A four-drawer base makes greater use of the available space, with two standard drawers on each side.

The 2+2 Continental arrangement combines two standard drawers with two smaller drawers positioned towards the head of the bed. Those smaller drawers provide better clearance around bedside cabinets, which can make this a much more practical choice in many bedrooms.

Check the space around your bed before choosing drawers

The configuration with the most drawers isn't necessarily the best one for your room.

Bedside cabinets, wardrobes, radiators and walls can all restrict how far a drawer can open. This is why we recommend thinking about the position of the bed and surrounding furniture before deciding on the storage configuration.

It's a simple consideration, but one that's much easier to get right before the bed arrives.

Ottoman storage makes use of more of the base

If you need a larger open storage area, Harrison Spinks also offers ottoman bases.

The standard ottoman uses a piston-assisted mechanism to help you lift the bed and access the storage underneath.

Harrison Spinks also offers an electric sprung ottoman, providing powered access to the storage area.

Harrison Spinks ottoman bases have a north-to-south split, including the larger sizes. This is worth understanding when planning how you'll access and use the storage.

Drawers or ottoman — think about what you're storing

Drawers are convenient for items you want to access regularly, while an ottoman gives you a larger open space that can work particularly well for bulkier items such as spare bedding, pillows and seasonal items.

Neither is automatically the better choice. It comes down to what you want to store and how you want to access it.

We'll help you plan the storage around your bedroom

If you're visiting our Ash Vale showroom, bringing a few room measurements or photographs on your phone can be really useful.

We can help you consider the position of bedside cabinets and other furniture, the clearance around the bed and what you intend to store before deciding which Harrison Spinks base will work best.

Getting the storage configuration right at the beginning can make your new bed considerably more practical for years to come.
