Actona is a Danish furniture supplier we have worked with for many years. What we like about the range is that design comes first: the furniture is well considered, attractively priced and often particularly useful where space is limited.
Actona also thinks carefully about how each piece can be packed and transported efficiently without compromising how it looks or works once assembled. The result is furniture that can offer very good value, but with one important difference from most furniture we sell at Vale: Actona is delivered boxed for you to assemble at home.
Actona is not intended to replace the fully assembled furniture that forms the core of our range. For many customers, having furniture assembled, positioned and the packaging taken away is an important part of buying from Vale.
There are occasions, though, when spending considerably more simply isn't necessary. You might be furnishing a second home, a spare room, a home office or an area that gets less use. Actona can also be particularly useful for smaller spaces, with plenty of compact pieces that make good use of the room available.
The lower price does not mean design has been forgotten. That is one of the reasons we have continued to work with Actona over the years. The pieces can sit very comfortably alongside more expensive furniture, so there is no reason everything in a room needs to cost the same.
If you like the shape or style of an Actona piece but the finish is not quite right for your room, talk to us. We are used to looking across different suppliers and can often suggest alternatives with a similar idea in a different finish, size or specification.
Being able to pack furniture efficiently helps keep transport, handling and ultimately the selling price under control. Actona considers this as part of developing each piece, including how the components fit together when they reach your home.
From our experience with the range, the instructions are clear, the fittings work as they should and the assembly process has been properly considered. You will still need to allow the time and space to put the furniture together, so if home assembly isn't for you, we can help you compare fully assembled alternatives.
Although Actona is supplied for home assembly, we do not hand your order over to a parcel courier. Our own team delivers it boxed, ready for you to assemble. For larger pieces, it is worth deciding where you will build them and checking that you have enough working space before you start.
You do not need to furnish a whole room at the same price level. An Actona desk, occasional table, dining chair or other smaller piece can work alongside furniture from considerably more expensive brands if the design, proportions and finish are right for the room.
Start with what the piece needs to do, how much space you have and how important the furniture is to the way you use the room. If Actona suits the job, it can be a very sensible place to save without making the room feel like a compromise.
Actona also forms an important part of our Vale Value Collection, where you can find more furniture offered on the same home-assembly basis.
