We have more than 162 full-size rugs displayed throughout our Ash Vale showroom, alongside colour samples, smaller rug samples and supplier brochures covering many more designs and sizes.
That gives you the chance to judge colour, texture and pattern at a useful scale rather than relying on a photograph online. We can also move rugs alongside sofas, dining furniture and other pieces in the showroom so you can see how the proportions and colours work together.
Where suitable, many of our rugs can also be borrowed so you can try them in your own room before making a final decision. This can be particularly helpful with subtle colours, as flooring, natural light and surrounding furniture can all change how a rug appears.
For a living room, we will often suggest considering a larger rug that runs partly beneath the sofas rather than stopping immediately in front of them. It can connect the seating area and give the room a more considered flow.
If you have reclining furniture, check the clearance beneath the mechanism as well as the rug dimensions. A thick rug immediately in front of a low recliner can sometimes catch as the mechanism opens. A lower-pile rug may work better, or a larger rug can sometimes run beneath the whole sofa so the furniture remains level.
Under a dining table, measure for the chairs when they are being used, not just the footprint of the table. Ideally, a chair should still sit comfortably on the rug when pulled back. A lower-profile rug can also make chairs easier to move in and out.
As well as ready-made rugs in established sizes, we can offer several routes when the room needs something more specific. Jacaranda rugs can be made to measure from its wider carpet textures, with different edging treatments available.
Our flooring department can also arrange for suitable carpets to be made into rugs with bound or taped edges. This can be useful when you have found the right carpet colour or texture but need a particular rug size rather than a fully fitted floor. You can explore our carpet collection if this route is of interest.
There is no single rug collection that is right for every room, which is why we work with several very different suppliers.
If you are unsure where to start, bring room measurements and, if useful, photographs, fabric samples or paint colours. We can compare rug sizes against furniture in the showroom, look through the wider supplier ranges and help narrow the choice by practical suitability before concentrating on colour and design.
Once the design and size are settled, many of our suppliers can deliver rugs directly to your home, so you can benefit from comparing them properly in store without being limited to what is physically on the shop floor.
