TEMPUR has been part of our bed department at Vale Furnishers for more than 20 years, giving our team considerable experience of the products and, importantly, of helping customers decide whether the distinctive TEMPUR feel is right for them.

During that time, the range has developed from predominantly mattresses and pillows into a much broader collection of complete bed systems, including divans, adjustable beds, bedsteads and storage beds.

It is also a brand that many customers return to. We regularly meet people replacing a TEMPUR mattress they have owned for many years, alongside customers considering TEMPUR for the first time.

Our role is to help both understand what has changed and find the combination that suits them now.

TEMPUR feels very different from a traditional sprung mattress

TEMPUR mattresses use the brand's pressure-relieving TEMPUR Material rather than a conventional spring system.

The result is a very different sensation from lying on a traditional pocket sprung mattress. Instead of being supported predominantly by springs pushing back against the body, TEMPUR Material adapts around your shape and distributes pressure across the mattress.

Some customers immediately know that they like the feeling. Others need longer to decide.

That is why we think TEMPUR is particularly important to try properly before choosing.

One of the biggest advantages of choosing TEMPUR at Vale Furnishers is the number of different mattress options you can compare in one visit.

We have all 12 combinations across the TEMPUR PRO, PRO Plus and PRO Luxe collections available to try, covering Soft, Medium, Medium Firm and Firm feels.

The differences aren't simply about choosing a firmness. Mattress depth, construction and the amount of TEMPUR Material change as you move through the collection, which can alter both the comfort and support you experience.

Choose the mattress first, then decide what should go underneath it

We normally recommend starting with the mattress.

Once you have found the TEMPUR mattress and feel you prefer, we can then look at the base that best suits the way you want to use the bed and the style of your bedroom.

That might be a traditional TEMPUR divan, a TEMPUR bedstead, an ottoman storage bed or an adjustable bed.

Each has its own advantages, so separating the mattress decision from the bed-base decision can make what initially appears to be a complicated range much easier to understand.

TEMPUR adjustable beds have become a lifestyle choice as well as a practical one

Adjustable beds were once associated mainly with mobility or medical requirements. Although they remain extremely useful for many customers with those needs, the way people use them has changed considerably.

TEMPUR's adjustable systems can also appeal to customers who simply want greater control over how they relax and sleep.

Depending on the model, features can include independent head and foot adjustment, Zero Gravity positions, memory settings and other comfort functions.

TEMPUR can be built around the way you want your bedroom to work

Choosing TEMPUR no longer means simply choosing a mattress.

There are traditional upholstered divans, contemporary Arc bedsteads, practical storage beds and adjustable systems, together with different headboard and upholstery choices.

For customers short of bedroom storage, an ottoman base can make otherwise unused space beneath the mattress accessible. For someone looking for a more contemporary appearance, an Arc bedstead may be the better fit. For others, the simplicity of a traditional divan remains exactly what they want.

You can also choose from a range of TEMPUR headboards to complete the bed.

The important thing is that the base should suit both the mattress and your everyday needs.

Pillows and bedding complete the TEMPUR range

TEMPUR also produces pillows designed around different sleeping positions and support preferences, including Cloud SmartCool, Original SmartCool and Ombracio options.

Choosing a pillow in isolation can be difficult because the mattress underneath you affects how far your body sinks and therefore the position of your head and neck.

In our showroom you can try TEMPUR pillows while lying on different mattresses, rather than having to make that decision from a description on a packet or website.

Our advice is to give yourself time to try TEMPUR properly

If you are considering TEMPUR, don't judge a mattress from sitting on the edge or lying on it for a few seconds.

Lie down properly in your normal sleeping position and give the material time to respond to your body. Try several feels, and don't assume that the firmness description you normally choose from a sprung mattress will automatically translate to TEMPUR.

If you are sharing the bed, both of you should try it.
