Depending on the manufacturer and model, the base might be a relatively firm platform top, or it may incorporate springs and additional upholstery to change the overall feel of the bed. On some of our premium ranges, the construction of the divan is an important part of the complete sleep system rather than simply something for the mattress to sit on.

That is why, when comparing beds in our showroom, we encourage you to try the mattress on the base you are actually considering wherever possible.

Divan Beds With Storage

For many customers, one of the biggest reasons for choosing a divan is storage.

Depending on the particular range and bed size, options can include:

• Two or four standard drawers

• Continental-style smaller drawers designed to clear bedside furniture

• Large end drawers

• Side-opening or end-opening ottoman storage

• Divans without storage where a simpler base is preferred

If storage is important, our team can help you think about how the bed will actually sit within your bedroom. There is little benefit in specifying four large drawers, for example, if bedside cabinets prevent two of them from opening properly.
