A coffee table can be a useful centrepiece for your living room, giving you somewhere for drinks, books and the things you like to keep close at hand. But it's worth thinking about your seating arrangement before deciding whether one large table is the best choice.
Consider the height of your sofa, how far you need to reach and how much space you have to move around the table.
If you have reclining seating, a conventional coffee table may get in the way when you put your feet up. Smaller lamp tables, movable nests or a footstool with a suitable tray can sometimes be more practical.
Several smaller tables at different heights can offer greater flexibility than one substantial coffee table. You can bring them closer when needed or move them aside when you want more floor space.
Shape matters too. Round or curved tables can soften a room with lots of straight furniture, while rectangular designs may work better with particular sofa arrangements.
At Ash Vale, you can compare coffee tables alongside our sofa displays, sit down and judge their height, reach and proportions before choosing.
